Midview Football to Welcome Elyria Catholic for Week 3 Home Opener

Who: Midview High School (2-0, 0-0 SWC) and Elyria Catholic High School (0-2, 0-0 NCC)

What: Week 3 OHSAA Non-Conference Varsity Football Game

Where: Ross Field at Adelsberg Stadium (38199 Capel Road, Grafton, OH 44044)

When: Kickoff is Friday (September 5) at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Special Events: It is Midview Youth Football Night. All youth players and cheerleaders in grades K-6 will be admitted free when wearing their uniform AND accompanied by an adult. Registered coaches will also be admitted free at the pass gates. 

Who Needs a Ticket: Everyone Kindergarten age to 59 years of age must have a ticket in order to enter. Senior Citizens (60+) are admitted free regardless of where they live. In addition, Midview Local School and SWC passes will be accepted at any gate.

Adult Tickets: Adult Tickets are $10. Presale Tickets are available for adults only at https://midview.hometownticketing.com/embed/all A credit card reader will also be available at both the Main Gate and the Middle School entrance for walk-up tickets. Cash Sales exclusively at the Main Gate. 

Student Tickets: Student Tickets for kids in grades K-12 are $5 and available only at the gate. If paying cash you must use the Main Gate. If using a credit card you can use Middle School entrance or Main Gate.

Specator Notes: No back packs or large bags are allowed in 2025. All kids in attendance will be expected to sit in the stands with their parents or in the assigned student sections. Spectators are prohibited from bringing sporting equipment (footballs, basketballs, etc.) inside Adelsberg Stadium during Varsity Football Games. They will be turned away at the gate. Alcohol and Smoking are also prohibited on the campus of Midview Local Schools.

Specator Note 2: The main gate is now located in the northwest corner next to the new pickleball courts. It will still be marked by the white ticket booth with the blue roof.

Haltime Entertainment: The Elyria Catholic Marching Band will perform first, followed by the Midview High School Marching Blue.

Concessions: The Midview Band Boosters will once again sponsor all concessions during Midview Varsity Football home games. They will be open through the end of the third quarter. There will also be a few different food truck options near the Main Gate.

Last Meeting: Midview shutout host Elyria Catholic 27-0 during a rainy September 6, 2024. Shay Williams had a pair of rushing TD runs, while he connected with Marcus McMahon on another TD strike in the win.

2024 Records: Midview finished 5-6 overall and 2-5 in the Southwestern Conference, while Elyria Catholic went 3-7 overall. The North Coast Conference did not keep league standings due to schools transitioning to the conference in 2024.

2024 Playoffs: The Middies lost 31-14 at Padua Franciscan High School in the first round of the OHSAA Division III playoffs. 

Midview's Last Game: Senior running back Marcus McMahon posted the third-best single-game rushing performance in school history with a 24-carry, 257-yard and 4-TD effort in a 48-14 win over host Westlake High School. Senior quarterback Shay Williams threw for two scores and ran for another, while senior Braden Armold led the defense with 10 total stops in the win. [Recap].

Elyria Catholic's Last Game: Elyria Catholic felll 28-13 at Mayfield High School. The Wildcats ran back the opening kickoff and never looked back. 

Midview Head Coach: Head Coach Jack Armstrong is 11-13 in his third season leading the Middies. Armstrong, a 2012 graduate of Midview High School, is a Special Education Coordinator at his alma mater and had served as a varsity assistant coach with the Middies for six of the previous seven seasons before taking over. He is the just the eighth coach in program history, which dates back to the consolidation of Belden, Eaton and Grafton high schools in 1955.

Elyria Catholic Head Coach: Head Coach Chase Farris is 6-16 in his third year leading the Panthers. Farris, a 2011 Elyria High School graduate, was a National Champion at The Ohio State University. He also won a Super Bowl ring with the New England Patriots in 2017.

Midview Stat Leaders: Senior Marcus McMahon has 47 carries for 412 yards and 6 TDs. He has also caught 3 passes for 87 yards and 1 TD. Senior Shay Williams has completed 17-of-31 passes for 303 yards and 3 TDs while also rushing 12 times for 96 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively, senior Brayden Homoki has 19 tackles, sophomore Ian Regan has 14 tackles and senior Braden Armold has 13 tackles through two games. Senior Kaiden Vonya is 9-for-10 in extra-point attempts this season.

Midview Returning Lettermen: Midview returns 19 letterwinners from a year ago, including a trio of two-year lettermen in Brayden HomokiLeo Swirynsky and Zachary Wallace
