Girls Tennis competes at Norwalk Invitational
Midview Varsity Girls Tennis capped off its opening weekend with fourth place finish at the day-long Norwalk High School Invitational Saturday (August 9). The tournament allowed the Middies to get in a lot of tennis early and build upon their preseason preparations. Midview compiled 49 points at the eight-team event.
Junior captain Danica Hazzard was the team's top finisher. She placed third at third singles after picking up wins over Notre Dame Academy (6-3, 4-6 10-8) and Norwalk (6-3, 6-1). Senior Brynn Wuensch earned a fifth place finish after defeating Port Clinton High School. The first doubles tandem of senior Madison Piskunoff and junior Leah Vasarab and second doubles pair featuring senior Morgan Piskunoff and sophomore Abigail Klooz both placed fourth after having to injury default third third place matches midway through. First doubles picked up an opening round win over Port Clinton (6-3, 6-4), while second doubles defeated Shelby High School (7-5, 6-2) in their first match of the day.
Midview begins Southwestern Conference play at home against Avon Lake High School on Monday (August 11) at 4:30 p.m.
