Midview Track and Field competes at Keystone Invitational

Midview Varsity Track and Field completed in a rain-soaked inaugural Keystone Invitational on Friday (April 24) evening. The Middies took sixth in the boys standings with 47 points and seventh in the girls standings with 54.5 points at the 15-school event.

The Girls 4x100m Relay, which featured junior Ava Hamm, junior Leah McKay, sophomore Hannah Bacskay and junior Cora Vance, placed runner-up with a time of 50.97 seconds. Junior Audrey Gerber, McKay, Bacskay and Vance then took second in the 4x200m Relay with a time of 1:46.02. McKay, Bacskay, sophomore Leila Morgan and Vance capped the meet with a third place finish in the 4x400m Relay by crossing the line in 4:14.52.

The Boys 4x100m Relay, which included sophomore Nathan Sooy, senior Gage Weaver, senior Seth Gendics and junior Logan Edgell, took third with a time of 44.97 seconds. The same foursome also placed third in the 4x200m Relay after crossing the line in 1:33.26.

Midview swept the Shot Put and Discus Throw. Senior Isabel Geyer won the girls Shot Put competition with a personal best mark of 38-5 and the Discus Throw with throw of 101-9. Junior Jeffrey Wirth had the top Shot Put throw with a mark of 53.5 and then won the Discus Throw with a toss of 160-1.

The Middies are back in action on Wednesday (April 29) when they visit Amherst Steele High School for a Southwestern Conference dual at 4:30 p.m.
