Weber qualifies for OHSAA Swimming Championship

Midview High School freshman Alyson Weber secured her spot in Ohio's pinnacle interscholastic swimming event by placing third in the 100 Backstroke at the 2026 OHSAA Division II Northeast District Tournament Friday (February 20) at Cleveland State University.

Weber finished the two-lengths of the pool race in a personal best 58.61 seconds to grab one of the meet's three automatic bids to the OHSAA Division II Championship. There is a high probability that she will also earn an at-large bid to compete in the 200 Freestyle after placing fifth at districts with a school record time of 1:57.32. The official list of qualifiers will be released on Sunday (February 22).

Weber is the third student-athlete to represent the Middies at the State Girls Swimming Championship, joining sisters Grace Henely (2023 and 2024) and Regan Henely (2025).

The 2026 OHSAA Division II Swimming Championship will be held at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton. Prelims are Thursday (February 26) at 5 p.m. The finals are slated for Friday (February 27) at 5 p.m.
