Midview Softball opens OHSAA postseason with rout of Barberton
Midview Varsity Softball's OHSAA Sectional Final was postponed for five days but that didn't slow down the fifth-seeded Middies as they defeated visiting 44-seeded Barberton High School 14-0 on Monday (May 18) evening.
Junior Savannah Holcomb no-hit the Magics, scattering two walks with 11 strikeouts, over the five innings. It was her first career no-hitter. Holcomb also collected three of her squad's 10 hits in the win. Magics' pitchers walked 11 batters and hit two more in the game. Midview plated five runs in the first and nine in the second before strategically forcing outs in order to complee the mandated four and one-half innings.
The Middies (18-7) have a quick turnaround as they now host No. 25 Revere High School in an OHSAA District Semifinal match-up on Tuesday (May 19) at 5 p.m.
