Midview Softball extends win streak with 8-0 win against Elyria

Midview Varsity Softball improved its home record to 10-2 with an 8-0 Southwestern Conference victory over visiting Elyria High School on Wednesday (April 29) evening.

Junior leadoff hitter Dezirae Thomas provided the spark offensively with her speed against the Pioneers. Thomas (2-for-2) tripled and scored on a passed ball in the first and then walked and scored on a wild pitch in the third. She also walked and scored on an error in the fifth. Sophomore Jillian Vandersluis followed with a RBI double, while junior Savannah Presser drove in the third run of the fifth with a hard hit ball to third, which was misplayed. The Middies capped their scoring with a three-run sixth. Junior Savannah Holcomb hit a sacrifice fly, senior Nina Ballachino contributed a RBI double and Vandersluis (2-for-2) added a RBI single.

Holcomb (11-3) continued her dominance on the mound with a four-hit and nine-strikeout complete-game shutout. 

The first place Middies (15-5, 9-3 SWC) will visit Olmsted Falls High School on Thursday (April 30) at 4:45 p.m.
