Midview Football to visit Avon for SWC match-up in Week 7
Who: Midview High School (3-3, 0-3 SWC) and Avon High School (5-1, 3-0 SWC)
What: Week 7 OHSAA Southwestern Conference Varsity Football Game
Where: Westland Heating and Air Conditioning + Plumbing Stadium (3075 Stoney Ridge Rd, Avon Ohio 44011)
When: Kickoff is Friday (October 3) at 7 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Who Needs a Ticket: Everyone Kindergarten age to 59 years of age must have a ticket in order to enter. Senior Citizens (60+) are admitted free regardless of where they live. In addition, Midview Local School and SWC passes will be accepted at any gate.
Tickets: Adult Tickets are $10 and Student Tickets are $5. Presale Tickets is available at https://events.hometownticketing.com/boxoffice/avonlocalschools/L2VtYmVkL2FsbA%3D%3D. Cash is only available at one gate so expect long lines. Credit card sales also expected to be available at the gate.
Fan Parking: Parking is limited to the North and South of the stadium in the North and South Parking lot (See Map Below). Parking at the high school and walking over is an option. Street parking is available, our on staff Police Officers will guide in overflow parking. We highly recommend parking at the High School and walking over on the walking path, this allows for a much quicker exit after the game due to there only being one exit out of the Avon Early Learning Center.
No Tailgating: Tailgating in the parking lot is not permitted. This means that there is no loitering in the parking lot. Once you have parked on Avon Local Schools grounds you must move towards the gates to enter into the stadium.
Haltime Entertainment: The Midview Marching Blue will perform first, followed by the Avon High School Marching Band.
Last Meeting: Avon defeated host Midview 49-10 on October 11, 2024. The Middies scored their lone touchdown on a 50-yard strike between quarterback Cody Martin and wideout Dior Jones late in the first quarter. Midview then added a 45-yard field goal off the foot of kicker Ethan Morris in the fourth quarter. [Recap]
2024 Records: Midview finished 5-6 overall and 2-5 in the Southwestern Conference, while Avon went 16-0 overall and 7-0 in the SWC.
2024 Playoffs: The Middies lost 31-14 at Padua Franciscan High School in the first round of the OHSAA Division III playoffs. The Eagles soared all of the way to the OHSAA Division II Championship with wins over North Olmsted High School (47-12), Olmsted Falls High School (52-35), Wadsworth High School (41-10), Highland High School (28-20), Hoban High School (35-10) and Anderson High School (20-13).
Midview's Last Game: Senior Marcus McMahon scored three touchdowns and ran for 165 yards, but rival North Ridgeville scored in the final minute to defeat the Middies 28-24. Senior Brayden Homoki paced the defense with 18 total stops. [Recap].
Avon's Last Game: The Eagles earned a 55-27 win at Berea-Midpark. Quarterback Blake Elder completed 19-of-25 attempts and threw for 325 yards and three scores. Michael Corbin added 15 carries for 108 yards on the ground in the win.
Midview Head Coach: Head Coach Jack Armstrong is 12-16 in his third season leading the Middies. Armstrong, a 2012 graduate of Midview High School, is a Special Education Coordinator at his alma mater and had served as a varsity assistant coach with the Middies for six of the previous seven seasons before taking over. He is the just the eighth coach in program history, which dates back to the consolidation of Belden, Eaton and Grafton high schools in 1955.
Avon Head Coach: Head Coach Mike Elder is in his 19th season and has compiled a 207-32 record with the Eagles. Overall, his career coaching record is 257-55.
Midview Stat Leaders: Senior Marcus McMahon has 144 carries for 816 yards and 14 TDs. He has also caught 11 passes for 110 yards and 1 TD. Senior Shay Williams has completed 73-of-128 passes for 1,024 yards and 6 TDs while also rushing 45 times for 203 yards and 2 TDs. Senior Zachary Wallace has a team-best 26 catches for 467 yards and 3 TDs, while junior Brennen Newton has 20 grabs for 273 yards and 3 TDs. Defensively, senior Brayden Homoki has 98 tackles, senior Braden Armold has 57 tackles and junior Sawyer McMillin has 37 stops hrough six games. Senior Kaiden Vonya is 18-of-20 in extra-point attempts this season.
Midview Returning Lettermen: Midview returns 19 letterwinners from a year ago, including a trio of two-year lettermen in Brayden Homoki, Leo Swirynsky and Zachary Wallace.
SWC Non-Conference Success: The 8 SWC teams combined to go 14-10 over the first three weeks against non-league opponents. [Standings]
Playoff Outlook: Midview currently sits ninth in Division III Region 10, while Avon is second in Division II Region 6 through week 6 of the season. The top 12 of each region make the playoffs in 2025.
