Midview Cheerleading wins 2025 OHSAA Division III Spirit Championship

Midview High School Game Day Cheerleading is an Ohio High School Athletic Association Champion!

The Middies collected 192.050 points to earn the top honor in Division III at the 2025 OHSAA Spirit Championship Saturday (December 13) afternoon at Wittenberg University. They also took home the prize as Best Crowd Leading squad of the competition.

Carrollton High School finished runner-up after defeating defending champion Norwalk High School via a tie-breaker after both teams scored a 186.85.

"An OHSAA title has been a vision for our program for many years," said Head Coach Katie Hicks. "When OHSAA introduced the spirit championship in 2021, we set this goal and committed ourselves to it wholeheartedly. It's something we talk about every day. It's something we work for every day. That dream has now become a reality."

It is the program's first state championship and comes after finishing runner-up in each of the last three seasons. The Middies also took third place in the inaugural event.

Midview Cheerleading is also the first program in school history to win an OHSAA Championship. The Middies' previous six OHSAA Champions were all individual performances.

"The work is worth it," said Hicks. "This trophy isn't just for us, it belongs to every alum who helped build this program from the ground up. We are incredibly proud and honored to be the first team to bring an OHSAA team championship home to Midview."
