Midview Baseball defeats Keystone

Midview Varsity Baseball defeated visiting Keystone High School 17-7 in non-conference action on the home turf Saturday (April 25) afternoon.

The Middied jumped out to a 10-1 advantage after the first three frames. The Wildcats clawed back with a run in the fourth and five more in the fifth, before Midview enacted the mercy-rule with a seven-run bottom of the fifth.

Senior Bryce Schubert (1-0) earned the win on the mound after scattering two runs on seven hits over four innings. He walked four and struck out two.

Juniors Benjamin Szczepanski led the 12-hit attack on offense with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Senior Kaiden Vogelpohl added two hits and scored four runs in the win.

The Middies (5-8) play host to Elyria High School on Monday (April 27) at 4:45 p.m.
