Midview Baseball dodges storm to defeat Lorain 13-0
Midview Varsity Baseball earned a 13-0 non-conference victory over host Lorain High School on a stormy Wednesday (April 15) evening at the Pipe Yard.
Junior Benjamin Szczepanski earned the win with a complete-game performance on the mound. The right-hander scattered three hits and one walk while striking out nine to improve to 1-0 on the season.
Junior Jake Ellis (2-for-3) drove in the first run with a single in the top of the first. The Middies extended the lead with a five-run second. Junior Luke Jockel had sacrifice fly. Szczepanski drove in a run when he reached on an error. Senior Kaiden Vogelpohl (2-for-4) followed with a RBI double, freshman Kellen DeSimone added a sacrifice fly and Ellis capped the inning with a RBI triple.
Midview got back to scoring in the top of the sixth when it plated the final seven runs. Vogelpohl started the scoring with a RBI single. Ellis drew a bases loaded walk, before senior Damien Presser cleared the bases with a three-run double. After another walk, senior Brayden Widenmeyer delivered a two-run double to make it 13-0.
Midview (2-4) is back in action on Saturday (April 18) when it plays a doubleheader against Hudson. Currently, the games are slated to be played at Hudson. An update will come as we get closer to the weekend.
