Four Middies qualify for regional meet at OHSAA DII District Cross Country Championship

Midview Varsity Cross Country had four individual qualifers advance out of the OHSAA Division II Northeast District race Saturday (October 18) at Lorain County Community College. Overall, the Middies boys and girls both placed 19th as a team.

Sophomore Molly Ockuly crossed the 5,000-meter line in 22:07.55 to place 43rd and earned the Middies' first qualifying spot. Sophomore Hannah Bacskay also qualified after finishing in 23:08.33 and placing 73rd. The squad's third female qualifier was sophomore Sophia Morgan after she took 98th with a time of 24:15.55. Junior Evalynn Thompson (124th / 26:12.49), junior Alison Winslow (128th / 26:40.34), junior Payton Morgan (140th / 28:39.58) and junior Madelyn Czellath (141st / 28:59.57) also competed and wrapped up their season on Saturday.

Freshman Andrew Downey was the lone Midview boy to advance as he finished 93rd with a time of 19:19.18. Sophomore Noah Brady (103rd / 19:36.73), sophomore Hayden Maxwell (109th / 19:53.96), sophomore Bryce Jamison (133rd / 21:22.15), junior Andrew Hignett (134th / 21:52.73), freshman Reed Gibson (137th / 23:27.16) and junior Isaiah Lehota (138th / 23:33.89) concluded their season at the District Championship.

The 2025 OHSAA Division II Regional Championship is slated to take place at Boardman High School on Saturday (October 25) at 1:40 p.m.
