Midview Cross Country wraps up regular season at SWC Championship

Midview Varsity Cross Country competed Saturday (October 11) at the Southwestern Conference Championship at Lorain County Community College. The Middie girls finished sixth with 160 points, while the Middie boys placed eighth with 214 points at the event.

Sophomore Molly Ockuly was the Middies' top finisher as she placed 18th after finishing the 5k course in 21:55.15. Classmates Hannah Bacskay followed in 22:27.56 to take 24th and Sophia Morgan was 33rd after crossing the line in 24:22.88. A trio of juniors rounded out Midview's finishers. Evalynn Thompson (25:25.13) was 38th, Payton Morgan (27:43.27) was 47th and Madelyn Czellath (28:21.61) was 52nd.

Sophomore Noah Brady was the first Middie boy to cross the line. He finished in 18:43.93 to place 32nd. Freshman Andrew Downey followed in 39th with a time of 19:16.15. Sophomore Bryce Jamison placed 46th (20:29.68), junior Andrew Hignett took 47th (20:46.13) and junior Cayden Coker was 50th (23:59.85). Midview's top runner sophomore Hayden Maxwell was unfortunately injured midway through the race and had to stop running.

The Middies next race is the OHSAA Division II Sectional Championship back on the LCCC course Saturday (October 18) at 1:30 p.m.
