Midview Girls Soccer rallies past Lakewood 2-1

Midview Varsity Girls Soccer overcame a halftime deficit to defeat visiting Lakewood High School 2-1 Wednesday (August 20) on Ross Field at Adelsberg Stadium.

The Rangers took a 1-0 advantage early in the first half when Teagan Sefchick finished off a corner kick from her teammate. The Middies, who had yet to score a goal on the young season, finally broke through when senior Marissa McGhee beat the keeper following a rebounded shot to knot the game at 1-1 with 20:13 to play in the game.

Midview took the lead for good on its own corner kick. Senior Riley Frei delivered a ball into the box and senior Rachael Anderson headed it into the goal with 3:48 to play. The defense, anchored by sophomore goalkeeper Molly Ockuly, continued its solid play down the stretch to secure the win.

The Middies (1-1-1) are back home Monday (August 25) to play host to Wooster High School at 7 p.m. JV will play at 5 p.m.
