Midview Girls Golf breaks school record again in Senior Day win over Amherst

Midview Varsity Girls Golf had a Senior Day to remember when the Middies defeated visiting Amherst Steele High School 171-187 in Southwestern Conference action Wednesday (September 24) at Brentwood Golf Course.

The Middies broke the school record for best nine-hole round for the second time this season. The previous record was 176 and came against Berea-Midpark High School on September 8. Midview (8-7, 6-6 SWC) also secured its first winning season in program history, which began in 2019.

Senior Leah DiFranco paced her squad once again with a three-over-par 38. Senior Nina Ballachino followed closely with a 41. Senior Olivia Keenan and sophomore Sophia Morgan both contibuted a 46, while sophomore Kaylani Carrucini scored a 50 and senior Hunter Crum finished with a 53.

Seniors Ballachino, Crum, DiFranco and Keenan have been instrumental in extending the foundation for the eighth-year program. They have also left their mark in the record books.

Midview now turns its attention to the OHSAA Sectional Tournament, which takes place Monday (September 29) at Big Met Golf Course.
