Titans edge Mddies 8-6 in Varsity Softball
A pair of late runs helped Berea-Midpark High School escape with an 8-6 Southwestern Conference victory over host Midview Varsity Softball on Thursday (April 17) afternoon.
The Titans jumped out to a 5-0 advantage in the first inning. The Middies, however, climbed back to tie the game at 6 by the end of the fourth frame. Sophomore Savannah Presser smasher a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. It was the first of her high school softball career. Sophomore Savannah Holcomb had a RBI groundout and junior Olivia Keenan a RBI single in the second. Keenan (3-for-4) and Presser (2-for-4) added run-scoring singles in the fourth.
Juniors Nina Ballachino and Leah Mentzer both joined in the hit parade with two singles.
Holcomb (3-6) suffeed the loss after allowing 8 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits with 8 strikeouts over seven innings.
Midview (3-6, 2-5 SWC) plays host to North Ridgeville High School on Wednesday (April 23) at 4:45 p.m.
