Midview Boys Soccer defeats Willoughby South 5-1
Midview Varsity Boys Soccer capped off its regular season with a 5-1 victory over visiting Willoughby South High School Saturday (October 11) on Ross Field at Adelsberg Stadium.
Senior Anthony Loera registered his second hat trick of the season and has now scored a team-best 13 goals on the year.
Midview (7-9-1) started the scoring when a long pass from senior Christopher Payne led to a goal by sophomore teammate Arnuphap Promso with 31:49 to play in the first half.
The Rebels answered with a goal of their own following a turnover deep in Middie territory five minutes later.
Midview regained the advantage on Loera's first goal with 18:55 left in the half. Loera then added his second of the game with 5:05 to play in the first period.
Sophomore Andrew Morris helped extend the lead to 4-1 with a shot past the keeper from 25-yards out just 40 seconds into the second half. The goal was his 11th of the campaign.
Loera completed the hat trick when he took another long pass from Payne to covert the Middie's fifth goal of the game with 9:18 to play.
Midview's next match will be an OHSAA Division II Sectional Final at Kenston High School on Wednesday (October 15) at 7 p.m.
