Midview, under the direction of Head Coach Katie Evin, advanced to the finals after posting the top score among the 14 schools that competed in Division II. The Middies complied 207.300 points, including a division-best 73.550 in the Fight Song portion. Midview added 55.500 in the Crowd Leading and 78.250 in the Band Chant as determined by a panel of 3 judges.

The top six schools—Midview, Teays Valley High School, Lake High School, Avon High School, Loveland High School and Big Walnut High School—advanced to a final round. Scores did not carry over from the qualifying performance and a three-person judging panel averaged their scores in two categories. The Fight Song and Band Chant were combined into one score sheet then added with the Crowd Leading to determine the 2022 State Champion.

Midview, who finished third at the event in 2021, posted the best average in Fight Song / Band Chant with a 43.73 and added the second-best Crowd Leading average of 42.33 for a combined score of 86.07. Teays Valley edged out the Middies with a total score of 86.83 after posting a 42.67 score in Fight Song / Band Chant and 44.17 in Crowd Leading. It was the second straight OHSAA Division II Championship for Teays Valley. Lake finished third with a score of 84.57.

The Middies are back in action December 18 when they compete at the Polar Bear Blizzard Battle hosted by Jackson High School.
