Midview Baseball falls to Amherst 4-0

Midview Varsity Baseball lost a 4-0 Southwestern Conference match-up to visiting Amherst Steele High School Tuesday (May 12) evening.

Junior Benjamin Szczepanski kept the high powered Comets off the board until the third when back-to-back doubles plated three runs. Amherst then added an insurance run on a fielder's choice in the fourth to make it 4-0.

Szczepanski (3-1) took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts over six innings. 

Seniors Kaiden Vogelpohl and Brayden Widenmeyer as well as junior Jake Ellis (double) all had a hit in the game. Vogelpohl also tied Andy Blazek '00 for the program's single season record for stolen bases (31) after swiping a bag in the third inning. 

The Middies (10-13, 5-9 SWC) will take on St. Edward High School Thursday (May 14) at John Carroll University. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
