Midview Baseball falls to Elyria Catholic 6-1

Midview Varsity Baseball went toe-to-toe with state-ranked Elyria Catholic High School Thursday (April 30) under the lights of the newly-renovated MHS Baseball Field only for the Panthers to pull away late with a 6-1 victory.

Freshmen Kellen DeSimone (0-2) was charged with the loss after allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits with four walks and five strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Elyria Catholic, who was the home team in the game, plated a run in the first and another in the fifth, before Midview got on the board in the top of the sixth. Senior Kaiden Vogelpohl led off with one of his team's three hits on the night. He then stole second, moved to third on a throwing error and scored on a balk. The Panthers responded with a five-run sixth to put the game away.

The Middies (7-9) will visit Stow-Munroe Falls High School for a non-league game on Saturday (May 2) at 11 a.m.
