Bio

One of the finest athletes to ever represent the Royal Blue and Silver, Bob Vales was the Middies captain in football, basketball and baseball his senior year. He was All Conference, All County and was named to the Ohio third team as a safety. An outstanding triple option quarterback, Bob led his team to a 30-22 win over state ranked, Clearview in a game in which he had just come off a severe injury which was thought to be career ending. At 6’4"”Bob was a formidable obstacle for opponents as the leader of the defense from his safety position. He led the Middies to a 7-3 record and second place in the conference. He was the team MVP.

Bob was a three year letterman in Basketball. He was named MVP his senior year. He was named All Conference and All County second team and was named to the Plain Dealer Dream Team. The Lakeland conference produced a state champion in Clearview in 1974, led by Ohio Player of the year, Larry Harris. A Bob Vales led Middie team battled the Clippers on the Midview home court before succumbing by a score of 67 to 55. Bob bested Harris by scoring 21 points to Larry’s 18. An outstanding rebounder and formidable scorer, Bob was the heart and soul of the Midview team.

There was no letup for Bob in the spring as he was an outstanding pitcher for Midview’s Lakeland Conference Champions team his senior year as he threw a no-hitter at Vermilion in a 5-0 win to clinch the championship. Bob was the ace of the Middie pitching staff in both his junior and senior years.

Bob went on to play football and baseball at Marietta College.

Bob and his wife Rena, and sons Dana and Cory reside in Coolville, Ohio where he owns a contracting business. Bob’s adult daughter, Michelle lives out of state.
