Bio

To say that Anthony Stacey set a high standard for basketball at Midview High School is an understatement. He rewrote the record book at Midview High School. He started all four years for the Middies and holds the individual (45 pts.) against Elyria and career scoring (1720 pts.) and rebounding (704) records. His senior year was sensational. Aside from the 45 point game, he scored 41 of Midview's 51 winning points against Vermilion. He averaged 30.1pts. And 13.4 rebounds per game and earned all first-team Erie Shore conference honors for the third straight year. He was named Lorain County’s ‘’Mr. Basketball” and the Cleveland Plain Dealer Player of the Year. He was named Div. 1 All State by the Associated Press and scored 24 points in the Ohio North-South All-Star game. Highly recruited, Anthony decided to stay close to home and accepted a basketball scholarship to Bowling Green State University of the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

“I never recruited anyone as hard as I have Anthony Stacey.” Those were the words of BGSU coach, Jim Larranaga as he talked about his 6’4”, 225 lb. Freshman star. He was highly rewarded, as Anthony broke the frosh scoring record with 375 points and was named MAC freshman of the year. Anthony’s sophomore year was highly productive as he was second in team scoring and was named 2nd team all MAC. He was granted a medical redshirt in 1997-98. After a one year hiatus, he was named 1st team All MAC and was fourth in MAC scoring in his junior year. His senior year was phenomenal. He broke the all time BGSU scoring and steals record. He was named Bowling Green and MAC player of the year. Anthony was one of the most popular players ever to play for Bowling Green as well as one of its finest. Anthony’s next stop would be Europe to play for team Drag Inca in Spain.

Anthony is arguably the finest all-around basketball player to ever grace the hardwoods of Lorain County.

Anthony makes his home with his parents Albert and Faye when not in Spain.
