Scott Jalowiec earned two letters in baseball and made the all-conference team in two different conferences. As a junior in 1986, he was named to the All-Lakeland Conference team after helping lead the Middies to the championship. And as a senior the following spring, he was named to the All-Erie Shore Conference team. The Middies didn’t win the Erie Shore that season, but they won a sectional championship and came within a run of advancing to the Sweet Sixteen. They were edged by Southview, 3-2, in the district championship game. They ended the season with a 16-5 record.

Scott played three years of varsity golf and was named to the All-Erie Shore Conference team as a senior. The Middies won the Erie Shore championship that year and qualified for the district tournament. Scott still enjoys playing golf at Brentwood Golf Club and elsewhere.

Scott played well enough at Midview to earn a baseball scholarship to Ashland University, where he was a four-year starter as an outfielder and first baseman, and earned an invitation from the Indians to attend a tryout camp in Florida. “I had several tryouts,” Scott said, “but none of them came to fruition”.

After excelling on the baseball diamond at Midview and Ashland University, he became an even bigger star playing fastpitch softball. In an eight-year career on softball travel teams, he earned Amateur Softball Association (ASA) All-America honors four times. From 1992 to 2000, Scott played for some of the notable old teams in North-Central Ohio. They included the Ashland Coors Lite team, the old Redhaw Oilers of Ashland County and the Farmers Savings Bank team in Spencer, where he played two stints and finished his softball career.

Scott is married to the former Julie Singleton, ’86, an All-Ohio gymnast at Midview. They have two children, a daughter, Kylie, and a son, Jacob. The family lives in Grafton. Scott has been employed for the past 14 years by the U.S. Postal Service in Brunswick.
