Bio
Although an excellent softball player, Cass Dolhancyk really made her mark in volleyball. A three-year starter, she made the All-Star team at the Cannon Classic as a sophomore. As a junior she was named conference player of the year for the Erie Shore Conference Champions and was First Team ESC, Lorain County and District. She was selected third team All-Ohio. Her senior year was superb. Her team went undefeated and was ranked No. 1 in Ohio the entire year and suffered its only loss in the semi-finals of the State Championship and finished 25-1. Cass was named to the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Morning Journal All-Star teams. She made the ESC, Lorain County, District III and All-Ohio First team. She participated in County and State All-Star matches. She was rewarded with a full athletic scholarship to Division 1, Cleveland State University.
Cass was a four-year starter at CSU. An outstanding student, she was a perennial Dean’s list designee. She was nationally ranked in blocks per game during her freshman and sophomore seasons. She was named team captain and MVP, her junior year. Honors continued to come her way as a recipient of CSU’s most outstanding athlete award and she was named to the All Tournament Team at the Georgetown Invitational.
As she did in high school, Cass continued to improve at the college level. She again, was the team’s MVP her senior year. She received the varsity “C” most outstanding athlete award and was named to the GTE-Cosida Academic All- American Second Team. Cass is ranked among Cleveland State’s all time leaders in kills per game, total kills, kill attempts, hitting percentage, block solos and block assists.
As Jane Rader wrote the manual for female athletes at Midview High School, Cass Dolhancyk added the exclamation point.
Cass is currently the head Volleyball coach at Walsh University in Canton. She lives in Medina with her husband, Troy.
