Bio

Kim Bickel was a star on some of Midview’s most successful volleyball teams. Teams she played on won 73 games and lost 22. She played on the 18-1 Junior Varsity team her freshman year, the 20-4 Lakeland Conference co-championship team her sophomore year. The 21-6 Erie Shore championship team her junior year and the 14-11 sectional and district championship and regional semi-finalist teams her senior year.

At six feet, it was quite evident that Kim’s athletic future would be in basketball or volleyball. She played both her freshman and sophomore years after which she dropped basketball to focus on volleyball. A decision that proved to be justified as she progressed. She was a starter in her sophomore year on a very good team, but it was her junior year when she started to make an impact on the Midview program. She was honorable mention All Erie Shores Conference, All District Class AAA. The team won the Erie Shores Conference Championship.

Another year and more honors. Although they struggled with an overall record of 14-11, Coach Faith Ricilli’s team attacked the tournaments with a new perspective. They defeated Lorain, Magnificat and stunned Elyria in winning the district championship before losing to Brecksville in the regional semifinal game. Kim received several individual awards. She made the Cannon Classic, Avon Lake Invitational, Lorain County and District All Star teams. She was runner-up for Miss Volleyball-Lorain County, First team Erie Shores Conference, First Team All District and All-Ohio.

Kim Bickel accepted a full athletic scholarship to Kent State University where she played for two years.

Kim is a Kindergarten teacher in the Midview School District and lives in Elyria with her husband, Paul and two sons, Carson and Aden.
