Bio

Theresa Avon was a track and cross-country star at Midview High School. She set many school records and left a legacy that would long be remembered.

Her achievements were numerous. She set school records in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter events in track. She set a conference record in the 1600 and was a state qualifier in that event. Theresa was a three time MVP in track as Midview was undefeated in winning the conference championship her senior year. That same year, she finished first in the 1600 meters at the district meet and went on to place 7th at the state meet. She also won gold and silver awards in Junior Olympics. Theresa rarely lost in dual meets and was a formidable opponent whenever she stepped onto the track.

The longer the distance, the better to Theresa’s liking. It was therefore a comfortable transition to cross-country when that season came around. She broke the school record in the 5K and 2.5 mile distances. She was the conference champion in those events and was a state qualifier in her sophomore, junior and senior years. She placed 13th in the state and received All-State honors for her efforts. Theresa set several course records while at Midview and her legacy is well preserved.

Theresa’s efforts at Midview won her a track and cross-country scholarship to Malone College where she participated as a freshman and sophomore and then transferred to Clemson University as a walk-on. She soon won a full scholarship and lettered in her junior and senior years in cross country and track with the 10,000 meter event being her outdoor, and the mile run, her indoor specialties.

Theresa resides with her husband, Stuart in Aurora, Illinois and is heavily involved in volunteer work.
